As for the scene, it is a slow scene that needs to take its time. I believe that it was McCloud that said that more panels require the reader to concentrate on the moment and what you said of making every page count really turned out well. What I love the most is that we only see Fara and are oblivious to what Rain is feeling. So its kind of expected, but kind of not when we actually see her all nervous with her eyes nothing more than little dotts. If you are anything like me you find jokes a little stupid, but situations can always be funny only because of a certain amount of predictability in the characters. It is a blessing.
To get into something serious, this is an important scene, my dad and my elder sister gave me a similar speech, though in their's its more about proving myself as an adult so that I can control my own fate. Which does make sense considering the fact that I'm not in a good situation of being my own person (live at home, don't have a job, have a mom that wants to keep me young). So in a sense, it is true, that if you can prove yourself as a responsible person and hold a caring heart that you can be what ever you wish. It is hard especially when people are judged for just being human. But anyway, I love them both and hope I can make them proud. I have no doubt that you can make your special ones proud too Jocelyn (smile)
I never got such a speech actually. But before I started going public, I remember reading TONS of articles online that basically gave me the same idea. It's terrible to have to think about everything that could go wrong, but it is REALLY important to know the stakes before going into anything. Especially in this case, it can really put things into perspective if you realize your will to pursue outweighs your fear of judgment.
I do thank you for the advise inthe past few pages. I took them to my heart and hope in some way it does honor you as a creator from using the tools you have provided me.
