Being gay (or trans) and out in a school environment can be potentially dangerous. There are always bullies of varying degrees no matter what school you go to. To make matters worse, in some very real schools (like ones where addressing issues of homosexuality is forbidden by teachers and students alike, or ones - like in the case of this comic - where homosexuality is actually a bigger offense than assaulting someone), sometimes there’s really nowhere to turn. My heart goes out to any kids out there stuck in such a situation.

And for what it’s worth, you’ve actually seen Todd before.

looking at the link, I now remember Todd, didn't think he had a bigger part in the story than that. But it will definitely be interesting to hear him speak for the first time.

this is also interesting, though you delt with misunderstandings of homo/transexuality, this is the first time you dealt with violence in the subject. Considering that this was coming up, I was amazed that people went as far as considered Gavin as evil. Oblivious that he never really hit Rain for it. In essence, this really is the true start of the story. Though I'm amazed Rudy is smiling even though he understands that telling on him and having his ass kicked would only back fire on him. It really is a sad situation, and to be honest. This was the only real reason I was happy to graduate.

Respct to Rudy for handling it so well. I know from personal experience how painful bullying can be (albiet not over sexuality isssues - dread to think how bad it'd have been if I'd been out back when I was in school >.<), and I think it's disgusting how little can be done to counter bullying

My school is basically the exact opposite of that.

If anyone gives me the slightest trouble, they get hammered really hard, not only by other students, but by the faculty. It's nice, feeling that I have someone on my side, because I've dealt with some of that shit before. Never anything physical, thankfully, but it still happens now when I'm walking around by myself (I go to a community college). They're always afraid to say anything when I'm with another person, or they just say it loudly (always in groups) behind my back.

Well its definitely something that must be considered because it is something that really happens. unfortunately there are people that just don't understand or don't really want to understand and hurt people that are trans or gay that want i like about Rain it is comical at times but also covers that serious stuff.

i had the whole "wtf" armour going for me in highschool. only got in trouble once for wearing a dress and i able to get away with it do to the fact i had pants on. XD

side note wtf armour is also know as the great confuser paradyme (as featured in the mighty boosh!)

Rudy smiling in the fact of such hostility is what makes him such a likeable character in my eyes (although it does make me wonder if there's anything in this world that can break him..and do I even want to see it?), nice update.
