Also loved how everyone perceived costumes in this. Gavin for instance i can understand since there is so much commotion as well as a limited budget that you might as well take what you can get. Though at the same time it takes some of the fun out of the holiday. Love the Strongewell's devotion to Halloween, knowing them they would be the most awesome cosplayers. And Rain's insecurity is just adorable considering that I probably will be the same knowing I'm not allowed to see my own costume. And finally ky is the best icing ever on any cake. Especially when Gavin shot Ky down for his choice. Poor kid, he really is trying his best.
Also, Maria is such an evil little tease... XD

Seriously, though, this page reveals a little bit about each character's personality, by showing how they all react differently to a common situation. Gavin doesn't really care much about his costume; he prefers to procrastinate and save money, even if it means not getting the best costume. On a personal note, Gavin's philosophy is a lot like mine (except that I probably wouldn't even buy a costume, instead using three black paper circles to go as three-hole-punch Ben). Rain shows her passive nature in letting Maria choose her costume (although I wouldn't be surprised if her selection came from [link] ... heh heh!). Rudy shows his exuberance and... er... showmanship, in that he's already picked his costume and wants to keep it secret. Maria's costume isn't even mentioned, as she's only featured buying one for Rain (portraying her as an involved friend). And Kylie shows his positive attitude, by being excited about a costume he picked at random (although admittedly, he looks disappointed at finding out what it is).
One interesting aspect about this page is how the back of the characters' heads appear a lot. In most instances, characters are seen looking sideways or forward or at an angle, but this one features three panels with most of the characters looking away. Not that it means anything... I just like noticing stuff!
Anyway, this works as another effective teaser page. There may be irony in the title, as we still have no idea what's been "picked out". As usual, I look forward to more (and to seeing the costumes)!
I do like the lampshading (or breaking-of-the-fourth-wall, whatever) effect, though. It makes the OBVIOUS STALLING page worth it! Of course, it doesn't matter whether Rain likes it or not, as Maria's going to force her to go as a French-cheerleader-nurse-maid anyway! Maybe that's why Maria forces Rain to wait to try it on (and ate the receipt, of course, so she couldn't return it!). Heh heh...
