RAIN - Character Doodles

I drew these about a few weeks ago with no intention of actually showing it. But I'm having "post withdrawals" from this being the off day (and I don't have any completed wardrobes yet), so I thought I'd put this up for the fun of it.

The girl on the left is new, but we may have actually seen the guy before. So let's start by talking about him. First off, he was originally (read as: only) shown outside of canon in a group picture I made of the other students at St. Hallvard High [link] (this pic is not really reliable as a resource though; it was made BEFORE I started posting the comic and many characters have changed or been added since then). The only character we haven't seen in that lineup yet in this pic is Brett. Described to be tall and lanky, I tried to really accentuate that, taking myself way out of my meatier comfort zone with drawing, but I think I like the look overall. It makes him stand out a lot.

As I said though, the girl is not in that montage pic. Her entire existence stems from a conversation with a friend where she told me about someone she met with two different colored eyes. And I thought, "next character I make in whatever story is going to have that." (You'd be surprised how many of my best characters stem from random decisions like that, mind you.) Now, what having a blue eye and a green eye really brings to the table storywise is essentially nothing, so her design really doesn't mean a lot without a backstory. But I like her look and she's fun to draw, so the fact is, I've been toying with some ideas. Nothing is really solid though. She still doesn't even have a name yet (feel free to shout one out though, if you like).

Truth be told, as much as I like them, I wonder how necessary they are. I do, as is, have a few student extras I still haven't really touched. It makes me think adding more is probably not ideal. Still, if the story calls for them, I'll be delighted to work with them. Otherwise, this may be the first (or second) and last time you see them. But... I guess we'll see. ^_^
